Artist and Printmaker

To me, being an artist is all about sharing and expressing my reaction to the world around me. It’s about evoking a mood, a sense of place, and establishing a connection with whoever encounters my creations. Through my artwork, I strive to communicate emotions, thoughts, and experiences, inviting viewers to join me in exploring the beauty and complexity of our shared environment.

New Exhibition

Printmakers Gallery 2024

I have a current exhibition at the Gloucestershire Printmakers Gallery near Stroud, sharing with another artist. The exhibition runs until November 28th. The Gallery will be open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 11- 4pm.

Etchings

My etchings are made by following an intaglio printmaking process in which lines and tones are made on a copper or zinc plate using acid. The plate is then inked up and printed, using an etching press. These are then produced in a limited edition.

Monotypes

I make monotypes through a painterly process of rolling ink on to a metal or plastic surface and then wiping areas with rags, cotton buds, fingers, brushes and other implements. I continue to add and subract ink until I am happy to print an impression on to damp paper using an etching press. The result is a one of a kind unique print.

Archive

Painting was my main passion until I became more involved with printmaking. My approach is to complete a painting outdoors on location or to take sketches and paintings back to the studio and then work on them or start again using a combination of imagination, memory and observation.
